Dawn

This morning I was up to see the dawn, so I went outside and watched it.

It was amazing.

I usually see the beautiful Arizona sunsets, and those are pretty too, but there is just something unique about dawn that the sunsets can't touch.

I haven't watched the sun rise for a few years, not since I was in marching band in high school. It was a common occurrence then, but we were all busy doing something to really take time to appreciate it.

This morning, the sun was coming up at 4:30. I went outside and just watched and listened. It was deadly quiet; no hum of electronics, no cars. Eventually the birds started singing, but that was a sound that added to the peacefulness rather than disturbed it.

There were no spectacular color displays like the sunsets have, just the light sweeping over the world, catching delicate dessert plants and early morning flowers with surprise.

It sounds silly, but it was glorious. So simple, dawn is. I mean, yes the sun comes up. We all know that, it happens every day. Not news worthy. But have you ever watched the sunrise all by yourself? It's a great way to start the day.

Still Waiting...

Yep, I'm still waiting. I had a fingerprinting appointment today, which means all those future plans I had for robbing banks are now out. :)

Well, I'm doing research about Plymouth, and I found out some cool things!

I will be close to the castle associated with King Arthur and the round table, so I get to go see that. I think I'll take some art supplies and paint it if I get the chance.

I will be close to some of England's nicest beaches, so I might take some beach days there.

I can go see different zoos with cold water animals, and Plymouth isn't too far away from a gorgeous nature preserve.

But I am most looking forward to one thing: seeing the British Museum in London!!! I am going to just die, especially with the Classics background I've had. I can't wait to see the Bassae friezes from Greece, as well as the collection of Parthenon marbles. Wow.

I'm also preparing to travel a little over there, because France is 6 hours away... helloooooo Paris!

Or, I can take a ferry to Ireland. Um, yes please!

It's like a dream. Seriously, this happens to people in books and movies but not in real life, right? Dang. Thank You God, for Your many blessings!

I'll keep you all posted and updated on what I'm doing when I get over there, and of course there will be lots of pictures. What is everyone else doing this summer?

Patience!

Right now, I am supposed to be starting a fabulous job in England.

Right now, I am sitting at home.

It's a little frustrating.

My visa still hasn't come yet, so I can't go.

Hmm.

I almost don't know what to do with myself, having all this time doing nothing! It's weird. I don't have homework, I don't have work, and there's only so much cleaning to do around the house.

I think I'm going to the library today.

Ah, patience. It's hard sometimes!
